Peter dedicated his speech to a man named Martin Henderson, 37, from Milborne Port, Somerset. “I want to mention a gentleman I’m thinking about in England. His name is Martin Henderson. Google him” he said. The name became one of the most searched terms on the web while also becoming a trending topic on Twitter.
Martin suffered serious back injuries in the attack last October. The 4-foot 6-inch man was picked up by a 5-foot 8-inch man outside a bar in Wincanton and dropped from a height of around three feet.
The incident happened on his 37th birthday, just weeks after reports in the media claimed members of the England rugby team had been enjoying a “dwarf-throwing contest” in a bar in New Zealand during their ill-fated World Cup campaign.
“I was outside having a cigarette on my 37th birthday, just minding my own business, and some guy came behind me and just picked me up about 3ft off the ground and just dropped me,” he said to Mirror.
Martin confirmed to Mail Online (Dailymail.co.uk) he is still awaiting an apology from the England rugby team over the incident – which has left him needing to use a wheelchair for long journeys.
