A few months ago it was announced that Mark Gatiss, known for his role on Sherlock, was added to the cast of Game of Thrones, but up until now who he was playing was a mystery. Thanks to WinterIsComing.net who discovered that Gatiss’ CV online lists the name of the his Thrones character– Tycho Nestoris.
“Have you ever seen the Iron Throne? The barbs along the back, the ribbons of twisted steel, the jagged ends of swords and knives all tangled up and melted? It is not a comfortable seat ser. Aerys cut himself so often men took to calling him King Scab, and Maegor the Cruel was murdered in that chair. By that chair, to hear some tell it. It is not a seat where a man can rest as ease.” Stannis Baratheon (A song of Fire and Ice by George RR Martin)
I had a vision a few weeks ago to make the Iron throne from Game of Thrones out of balloons. The most iconic image of that chair is of Ned Stark (the Hand of the King, played by #SeanBean), so here is my tribute to that amazing image.
Kit Harington wants fans to know that season 4 of Game of Thrones will not disappoint! In a recent interview, he discusses the upcoming season, the path he wants Jon Snow to take, and the casting of the Red Viper. See excerpt below.
I’ve got great hopes for this season. I’ve read it and it’s fantastic,” he told us. “You’re going to love it. It’s my favorite so far.”
One major new character addition this season is bad boy Oberyn Martell, aka the Red Viper. It was announced last month that Chilean actor Pedro Pascal had nabbed the role, which sparked controversy among fans.
“Thrones” creator George R.R. Martin defended the decision; and Harington, too, fully has faith in the casting.
“I haven’t seen him in costume yet, but I have had dinner with him a couple of times. He’s a lovely man,” Harington explained. “He’s going to be brilliant. It’s an amazing character and quite the story line. You’re going to enjoy it. [Fans] won’t be disappointed, Pedro Pascal is the man for the job.”
While Harington was tight-lipped on what Jon Snow is going to be up to next year, he revealed where he would like his character to go.
“Well I do know where he goes…” Harington teased. “I’d like him to go and rescue Arya, but I don’t think he’s going to be able to. I’d like to see him collect Sansa, Arya, and Bran and just take them to the wall or something.”
If any television show deserves to have an accompanying “In Memoriam” video it’s Game of Thrones. Those of us familiar with the story, whether by watching the show and/or reading the books, know there are no shortage of deaths– and now there’s a video eulogizing them! This “In Memoriam” video kicked off the Game of Thrones panel earlier today at San Diego Comic-Con, and it’s totally worth a watch! Obviously, there are spoilers ahead.
DrawTheSimpsons, a tumblr account devoted to “Simpsonizing” well-known characters and people has given it’s signature treatment to Game of Thrones.
As you can see, this has been executed quite well as it’s easy to tell who’s who even without the labels! And don’t worry, we know you’ve noticed that a number of characters are missing– Arya, Ned, and Cersei to name a few–more images are coming soon!
This is one of the best, and truest, Game of Thrones parody videos I’ve watched in a while. Not Literally bring us this video based on the deaths in season one, set to a their own version of Gotye’s Somebody That I Used To Know. What makes this so funny is the fact that it is true! Warning: there be spoilers ahead!
I’d love to see what their season 3 version of this would be–let’s hope they make one!
