See Game of Thrones’ Characters “Simpsonized”!

DrawTheSimpsons, a tumblr account devoted to “Simpsonizing” well-known characters and people has given it’s signature treatment to Game of Thrones.

As you can see, this has been executed quite well as it’s easy to tell who’s who even without the labels!  And don’t worry, we know you’ve noticed that a number of characters are missing– Arya, Ned, and Cersei to name a few–more images are coming soon!

Game of Thrones Parody – Royals by Daenerys

One of our readers, Kate, alerted us to this great parody video she made.  It’s  a very Daenerys-centric version of the song Royals by LORDE–enjoy!

A big thansk to Kate for sharing this with us!

Amazing Game of Thrones character prints

As themarysue.com reports, artist Adam Spizak has created a trio of startling Game of Thrones character images. Here are two of them (Daenerys and Tyrion):

Wow, how awesome! Looking at these helps soften the blow of Season 3 being over, at least a little bit. Still sucks we have to wait until April 2014, though.

Lindsey Stirling and Peter Hollens do Game of Thrones

If you haven’t heard of Lindsey Stirling before, she’s a violinist who does choreographed performances of some really cool things. In this case, she put on a white-haired wig and played like Daenerys Targaryen, stringing Ramin Djawadi’s Game of Thrones theme in the Red Waste!

We actually think she could really pass for Ygritte the wildling if she had red hair in real life. Do any of you see the resemblance to Rosa Leslie, who plays Ygritte? Maybe we’re crazy for thinking that!

A Game of Thrones Cartoon

Here’s a humorous cartoon using characters and events from season one of Game Of Thrones.  I find the one with Daenerys and Ser Jorah especially amusing.  Enjoy!

Character Summary – Viserys Targaryen

We continue with Day 7 of our Character Summary countdown with Viserys Targaryen, also known as The Beggar King.

Viserys was the second son of King Aerys II and Queen Rhaella Targaryen, and a brother to Daenerys Targaryen. Viserys and his sister escaped  from Westeros after Robert Baratheon led several other noble houses in rebellion against House Targaryen and seized the Iron Throne.

Planning to take his crown back, Viserys forced his sister to marry Khal Drogo in exchange for a Dothraki army. Daenerys was hesitant, but Viserys told her that it’s the only way that they could get their home back. Few days after his sister marrying Drogo, Viserys felt frustrated, he sold his sister to Drogo but Drogo hasn’t paid him back with his army.

Viserys was too foolish and impatient, he forced Daenerys to persuade Drogo, but as Khaleesi, Daenerys started to stand for herself. Daenerys took his horse and let him walk, which it was very insulting for him. At Vaes Dothrak, Viserys was drunk, he insisted that Drogo give him his crown; he threatened Daenerys’ unborn child.

Drogo responded to him by announcing that he will give him his crown. He melted down his belt golden medallions and upends the pot over Viserys’s head, considered it as “crown.”

Despite Viserys’ treatment of his sister, Daenerys named her dragon Viserion in memory of her brother.

In the HBO series, Viserys is played by Harry Lloyd, a rather different looking person in real life, which is probably a good thing.  Interesting fact about Harry is that he is the great-great-great grandson of classic author Charles Dickens, so his artistic skills run deep in the family.  His portrayal of yet another young man claiming his rightful place to the thrown was brilliant.  His temper tantrum at the end was not overly done and in fact was pretty much perfect for the end of his sadistic, pitiful life.  Harry Lloyd’s screaming ability still echoes in my head.

Character Summary – Jorah Mormont

An interesting character, who was, before the events of Season 1 begins, a knight and had a wife.  Unfortunately, because of his attempts to keep his wife happy, he used up all his funds and ended up selling poachers to slavers.  This act led him and his wife to flee Westeros, and eventually led his wife to flee him.

He ends up being in the service of the Targaryens, Viserys and Daenerys, and became very useful to Daenerys after her marriage to Khal Drogo.  Unbeknownst to the Targaryens, Jorah was still seeking a pardon from his slaving activity in the hopes of returning to Westeros, and thus was informing the spymaster, Lord Vys, of the Targaryens and Dothraki’s activity.

But when Daenerys tests her immunity to fire by entering the pyre that burned her husband’s body, he knelt down in loyal service to Daenerys in the aftermath, seeing that she not only survived the fire, but brought out with her the three dragon hatchlings from the eggs that were gifted to her.

Jorah Mormont is played by Iain Glen in the series.  As with many of the characters, you get the feeling there’s more to him than the show lets on.  He seems to have a decent and courageous heart, which obviously helped him attain knighthood, but it’s not until the attempt on the Khaleesi’s life do you realize he has reservations about where his loyalties lie.

Only when Daenerys comes out of the fire unscathed, along with her dragons, does he decide to pledge all his loyalty to her.  Of course, it doesn’t do him well for a pardon that he seems to have a fondness for Daenerys.  I like that Iain has a kind face, as it plays well with keeping him likeable even though he obviously has some issues.
