joffrey-baratheon-hbo

Actor Jack Gleeson, who plays the super twistedly evil and bratty King Joffrey Baratheon in Game of Thrones, may have you scratching your head, wondering if this is really the same guy who plays such a horrifying character. And rare is the times when he is open to an interview to answer questions about the show, his character, and himself.

So, check out the video and watch the delightful Jack Gleeson NOT be Joffrey during.

Game of Thrones star Jack Gleeson joined UCD’s Q-Soc for an exhaustive interview / Q+A covering his career as a child in Batman Begins to life on the set of Game of Thrones, playing the villainous King Joffrey Baratheon and writing and performing with own theatre group, Collapsing Horse Theatre Company.

Game of Thrones Season 4 Recasts

Is the third time really a charm?

Game of Thrones, has recast Ser Gregor Clegane aka The Mountain That Rides, for the THIRD time. The character now be portrayed by Icelandic athlete Hafthor “Thor” Julius Bjornsson:

NewGregor

Ser Gregor was originally played by Conan Stevens in Season One, who was later replaced by Ian Whyte in Season Two. The character was kept out of Season 3 completely.

This comes just after the news that Michael Huisman’s mystery role is also a recast— He’ll be taking over the role of Daario Naharis, originally portrayed by Ed Skrein.

Game of Thrones Mystery Roles Cast

Over the past month, Mark Gatiss, Joseph Gatt, and Michael Huisman have all been cast in unspecified roles for Game of Thrones Season 4.

Huisman

Michael Huisman

We’ve seen a lot of speculation on the issue, but The Mary Sue has some interesting theories:

It’s a fair bet that Gatt will play Styr, Magnar of Thenn, since we know he’s definitely showing up in season four and Gatt looks, well, Styr-y. My guess for Gatiss is Merrett Frey; if you haven’t read the books, do not Google him, as pretty much everything about his character constitutes a major spoiler. Mace Tyrell and Oberyn Martell have already been cast …

If we are getting book four characters one of the Martells is also a possibility, though the show has cast persons of color for the two of them we know we’re getting so far (Oberyn and Ellaria Sand). Might we be seeing Ser Arys Oakheart, the Kingsguard member who protects Myrcella in Dorne? Huisman visually matches Oakheart for me more than any other character, but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything.

GAME OF THRONES Actress Explains What She Had to Do to Get Her Part

got-yara-greyjoy-gemma-whelan

I can’t say I’m all that familiar with many British actors aside from the ones that made their way to Hollywood (Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston, Christian Bale), so it was a bit of an interesting surprise to know that Gemma Whelan, the actress who plays Yara Greyjoy on Game of Thrones, is a comedian as well.  What’s even more surprisingly interesting is what she had to do during her audition for her Game of Thrones role.

She explains it all in the video interview (linked in the image below), around the 3:55 mark.  Remember that part when she gives her brother Theon (Alfie Allen) a ride to the castle upon his arrival?  Yeah, it has something to do with that.
