Who Would Win a Game of Thrones/ LOTR Throwdown? George R.R. Martin Picks The Victors!

If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if you favorite characters from George R. R. Martin’s Game of Thrones battled it out with some of of J. R. R. Tolkien’s, wonder no more!  Martin has actually taken the time to think these battles through and picked some winners.

It’s an age-old question for fantasy fans—if some of J.R.R. Tolkien’s most badass characters went toe to toe with their counterparts in Game of Thrones, who would win? Luckily for us, George R.R. Martin has been kind enough to break down the matchups.

In a great interview with MTV, the A Song of Ice and Fire author tackles Aragorn vs. Jaime Lannister, Smaug vs. Balerion, Saruman vs. Mellisandre and a few others.

It’s insanely awesome to imagine these mashups, and having Martin expound like they could actually happen is pure geek gold. In typical Martin fashion, he actually puts a lot of thought into his picks. So if anyone ever gives Vegas odds on fantasy grudge matches, he’d be my go-to guy.

Check out this comprehensive visual guide to the characters we met in the first season of Game of Thrones.  There do not appear to be many spoilers here, but if you have not yet watched season one, you may want to skip this until you have!

Since we meet so many characters, this could prove to be a very helpful reference guide should we forget anyone!

Season 2 thoughts

Greetings fellow lords and ladies. 🙂

Today I’m in school, not working on my project. Instead I’m reading GRRM’s blog (called Not A Blog) Here’s the link for anyone who wants it: http://grrm.livejournal.com/

Well, I’m VERY looking forward to 6 march, when I’ll be getting my pre-ordered Season 1 of Game of Thrones. But even more I’m dying for it to be 1 april, when the Season 2 is gong to be out on HBO! I’ve seen all these “In production” and trailers, teasers and fanmade trailers at least fifteen times each! And the song I shared in my last entry is being played 24/7. And Season 2 is not even my favorite of the books! I live A Feast for Crows (the fourth) the most.

And I’m not going to spoil anything by telling why, but I really want to… XD

Well, anyway. Anyone missed that a “Camelot”-leftover is going to be playing Davos Seaworth in Season 2? His name’s Liam Cunningham. Personally, I don’t think this is a very good casting, I don’t like the idea of someone from that disaster of a series is going to be cast for one of the roles in the MOST AWESOME series EVER. I just don’t like it.

Though Davos Seaworth is my absolute least favorite character,  I thinks it’s the only one I don’t like actually.

SPOILER!!! DO NOT READ ON IF YOU HAVE NOT READ… THE SECOND BOOK!

Though I do like that Stannis has cut of some of his fingers. I can’t remember how many it was… Two or three? I think it cute that he has them around his neck in a small pouch. 😉

But enough from me today, my teacher will be checking in soon too I guess. Bye my fellow Asoiaf/GoT-addicts.
